I’ve made the big decision recently to begin rebranding my business to include much more than just artwork. This has been something I’ve been thinking about for a very long time and it feels like the right move for me.
Why Rebrand?
If you’ve taken a look around my website you’ll see that I practice many more hobbies outside of painting and digital art. I also enjoy knitting, crochet, embroidery and cross stitch, creative writing, and sewing just to name a few. I regularly cycle through all of these hobbies and even take on new ones from time to time. While going through these cycles, I tend to focus on one and find myself with less motivation for the others. All this to say, painting all year long last year began to feel forced at times and seemed limiting to my creative self. I want to be able to create with whichever hobby is holding my focus and be able to make fun products from each of them.
I’ve been scared to dive into this rebrand for a couple of reasons. Last spring I was enrolled in Emily Jefford’s Making Art Work course. In it, she said that a lot of creatives have a hard time starting a business from their art when their media outlets seem to have too much going on, causing confusion in their audience. She gave a few examples of previous students who narrowed down their focus and found a lot of success. This has been one of the biggest fears of mine that’s been holding me back. My Instagram page had originally been full of all of my hobbies and the course convinced me to focus on just one and run with it. I deleted all of the posts that were about anything not related to my painting or digital art.
Now that I’ve realized how much I need these other creative outlets and how much joy I get out of making projects with each of them to sell here on my website, I realize that it doesn’t have to be so confusing. I already have a theme: farming and gardening. My artwork has centered around it and I love creating with this theme in mind. I have endless ideas within my other hobbies that go along with this vibe. Having a lot of hobbies is not distracting if they all follow a theme. This, I can do.
After making the decision to start branching out in my products, the weight came off my shoulders. I feel so much lighter now and full of inspiration. I can’t wait to begin making new things to show you!
What I Hope To Add
With all of these hobbies, I have a long list of new things I want to bring to my website. All of my artwork, prints, stickers, and postcards will remain. All of the below products will also center around a farming and gardening theme.
- Knit, crochet, and sewn garments
- Knit, crochet, and sewn stuffed animals
- Rugs
- Quilts
- Pillows
- Blankets
- Embroidery and cross stitch art
- Calendars
- Short stories
- Picture books
- Handmade notebooks and journals
- Handmade buttons
There is an even longer list of products I want to bring to you once I have my own livestock and have learned how to work with ceramics. For now, this list gives me a lot of opportunities to create beautiful pieces for you and your home.
I will be slowly adding these items to my website as they become available and I am still working out how the store menu will look to be the easiest to navigate and find what you’re looking for. I hope that you enjoy all of the new things coming your way!
