About the Pattern

Every other year or so I seem to have the urge to design a smaller project, something I can knit up in just a few days. This year it’s these mitts. Every time this happens, my family sees the pattern and they all want a pair for Christmas! I’ve been knitting my mitts off (haha) getting them all ready which, in the end, was surprisingly easy to do because they knit up so quickly!

These mitts are designed to be snugly fitting and fairly dense to keep your hands nice and toasty. I knit the samples in a variety of yarns ranging from fingering weight to DK weight to give a lighter or denser fabric. You can find more information on these projects on my Ravelry page as well as at the end of the pattern.

I do recommend knitting a small gauge swatch for this project. I tend to be a loose knitter and so I was able to get a nice fabric on a US 2, but you might be able to get away with a larger needle. While there is only one size for this pattern, there will be notes throughout which will guide you on making them larger if needed. In general, if you prefer a less snug fit or you’re looking for a larger size I recommend going up a needle size or two.

This pattern includes notes for left handed knitters to make it easier to know where you’ll have to make modifications if any
